PhD · 2nd Year Now: Tencent Hunyuan Image · 青云计划 Agentic RL · Unified Models · Reward Modeling for Visual Generation and Understanding.

I'm a second-year Ph.D. student at HKUST@ROAS, advised by Prof. Lei Zhu and Prof. Fugee Tsung. My research centers on Multi-modal Agentic RL, Unified Models, and Reward Modeling — designing large-scale post-training recipes that align unified generation models with human preferences, and building agents that reason, retrieve, and self-evolve by interacting with real-world tools and visual experience.

I am currently a research intern at Tencent Hunyuan Image through the 青云计划 (Project Up), and previously at Meituan LongCat (Meigen-AI) through the 北斗计划 (Beidou). My research has long lived in visual generation — projects I lead, including GenEvolve, PosterCraft, PosterOmni, and PosterReward, turn agentic reasoning, unified modeling, and reward-driven post-training into dependable tools for designers, creators, and broader creative communities.

02 § Research

Research Interests

My work centers on large-scale post-training, RL, and reward modeling for unified multi-modal generation — and on agents that reach beyond a single model by interacting with real-world tools and visual experience.

Multi-modal Agentic RL

Building multi-modal agents that reason, act, and self-improve via reinforcement learning over unified models — orchestrating real-world tools, references, and visual experience for grounded decision making in long-horizon visual generation tasks.

GenEvolve arXiv'26 JarvisIR CVPR'25 RestoreAgent NeurIPS'24

Unified Models & Post-training

Designing unified frameworks that consolidate diverse multi-modal capabilities — local edits, global design, perception, and synthesis — into a single generalized model, and scaling them up through large-scale post-training recipes.

PosterOmni CVPR'26 PosterCraft ICLR'26

Reward Modeling

Discovering and designing reward models that align generative outputs with human aesthetic, functional, and reasoning standards — providing robust optimization signals for RL-based post-training of foundation models.

PosterReward CVPR'26 SnowMaster CVPR'25

Visual Generation & Understanding

Across diffusion priors, restoration, and perception, I study what a unified model can perceive, restore, and create — bringing visual generation and understanding closer together for real-world conditions.
